Historian Mark Stoll has a new book out: Inherit the Holy Mountain: Religion and the Rise of American Environmentalism. It seems Protestants in general–and Presbyterians in particular–were more important in the rise of environmentalism than hitherto recognized. (Also, it so happens that Stoll cites one of my articles in the process of making his case.)
